The Legislative branch of the local government, their duties and responsibilities, is a confusing topic to citizens. Who are the leaders in the Legislative branch? What do they do? How do they create the ordinances? Why do they pursue this line of work?

These are the questions that the Office of the Vice Mayor of Quezon City aims to answer by organizing this campaign

The Quezon City Legislation Week sheds light on how the Vice Mayor and 38 City Councilors function as the Legislative body of Quezon City.

The Legislation Week, being an event organized by the government, has a serious and straightforward narrative. In order to captivate a wide audience, the art direction is simple, vibrant and easy on the eyes.

Retro, Abstract, Flat Geometric Shapes. These are the elements that created the visual design of the project. The client specifically asked for shades of blue on the city district badges to differentiate them.

DISTRICT 1 [Sto. Domingo Church]

Creative Direction
Simplifying the shape of the church into  3 simple windows in the front. Highlighting the entrance to the church with a contrasting red door.

DISTRICT 2 [House of Representatives]

Creative Direction
Choosing to highlight the Batasan by it’s iconic flag in the middle of the room. The unique, almost egg-shape container is a  reference to  the seats of the representatives.

DISTRICT 3 [Araneta Coliseum]

Creative Direction
Creating the Araneta Coliseum was easier to simplify into shapes out of all the districts. One thing to  highlight about the design is the intention to showcase the different windows on the 3rd floor and the pillars around the dome.

DISTRICT 4 [World Scout Jamboree Rotonda]

Creative Direction
The monument is a triangular tall pillar sitting on top of a hexagon that is resting on top of a cylinder.  Instead of a detailed illustration of scouts on the bottom, I used the insignia of the world scout instead.

DISTRICT 5 [La Mesa Ecopark]

Creative Direction
The La Mesa Ecopark is the ‘last ecological frontier’ of Metro Manila. I wanted to reference a flower and a compass. In doing so, representing the idea that La Mesa Ecopark is the center of Metro Manila’s environmental learning and rehabilitation

DISTRICT 6 [Himlayang Pilipino]

Creative Direction
Himlayang Pilipino is unique in it’s own right with their iconic salakot-shaped chapel, hence, the shape of the logo.
