At Buglasan Festival 2025 in Negros Oriental, Josip Tumapa received two awards during the TerN.O Designers Competition.
Both were presented on the same runway evening.
The first terno appeared in dark tones. The silhouette was clear from the start. Firm butterfly sleeves. A wide, layered skirt that stayed controlled as the model walked. Metallic elements were built into the structure and reacted sharply to the stage lights. The piece held its form from entrance to exit.
It received the Best Terno Award for High-Fashion.
The second work followed shortly after. Lighter in tone. Different in approach.
This terno was constructed from individually assembled shell elements. Repetition and precise placement became noticeable as the model moved. There was no emphasis on volume. The surface carried the design, and the construction remained visible throughout the walk.
This work received the Best Designer Award — Silver Overall Winner.
Both designs were created specifically for the TerN.O competition and shown consecutively. The competition jury included Filipino couturier Cary Santiago.
The two awards reflected different design directions presented within a single runway program.
