Aswang Project - Biraddali

I took a short course (Creative Illustration and Character Design) in CIIT back in 2021. For our finals, we had to choose a native mythical creature and give our own interpretation of them. I chose the Biraddali of the Tausug people in Sulu.

The Biraddali are a mythical race of ethereal women who descend to Earth to bathe in the mountains. Their detachable wings are stolen by men who want them as wives. Some myths end with the Biraddali finding their wings and returning to their home, and some end with their husbands undergoing challenges to become worthy of the Biraddali.

We only had to submit one piece, and the course is over, but I still find myself revisiting the Biraddali with 2 additional pieces.
