The Malasimbo Music & Arts Festival 2025 makes its return as a family affair

April 30, 2025

Inclement weather may have canceled the original plans for this year’s Malasimbo Music & Arts Festival, but the highly anticipated summer event can’t be kept down for long. It is now set to push through on May 4, Sunday, at the Puerta Real Gardens in Intramuros, Manila.

The featured artists on the festival’s main stage are Morobeats ft. Fateeha, Miss A, DJ Medemessiah, J-Mara, Prophecee, H2O Klann, Flackos, Naus, La Crema, Brigada, Mother basss, and NxC. Attendees can also groove to the sounds by the musicians featured in the festival’s Silent Disco: Antonne, Ezzrei, Flava Matikz, JP Sacaben, Marga Chi, Peebs, J-Nice, Polo Dino, and Salamangka.

Festival-goers can also take in the works by participating visual artists Olivia D’Aboville, Hohana, Cherry Fulo, Lotus Anahata, Veronica Ibarreta, Indie Green Culture, Hare King, Agus Loedin, Bianca Natola, Marco Santos, and Troy Silvestre.

The return of the Malasimbo Music & Arts Festival also marks the event as a family affair. With Kids’ Village, children have a dedicated space where they can immerse themselves in a variety of creative and outdoor activities, from arts and crafts like painting, crochet, and weaving to physical activities such as biking and yoga, and even gardening and creative healing.

Festival-goers can also look forward to artists duking it out in the Battle of the Brush. They can watch the following creatives do a live art battle and make bets on who will emerge victorious: Virgilio Aviado vs. Valen Valero; Gig de Pio, Sr. vs. Helena Alegre; Rum Corvera vs. Jay Francisco; Sowl vs. Sim Tolentino; Mic Rahman vs. Ku Romillo; Abe Orobia vs. Judeo Herrera; Rachel Duenas vs. Bea Batungbakal; and Alfonso Recto vs. Jojoy Zabala.

Since its first iteration in 2011, the Malasimbo Music & Arts Festival has since become a staple in the Philippine music and arts scene, serving as a platform for local independent artists to be introduced to the wider public and a venue for local music lovers to watch their favorite Filipino and foreign artists perform live. This year, the festival makes its stage in the historic Puerta Real Gardens in Intramuros, Manila, to give attendees an unforgettable experience that blends rich history with vibrant art and music. The partnership with the Intramuros Administration underscores Malasimbo’s commitment to celebrating Filipino heritage and promoting cultural tourism.
