Erik Matti’s On The Job was released in 2013 and is part of a canon in Filipino cinema that, quite luckily, found itself as the talk of the international film circuit.

Well-received by local and foreign moviegoers alike, Matti envisioned On The Job to become a rapidly expanding franchise since 2018. This is a goal he is now one step closer to revealing this September.

A director’s cut of On The Job will premiere as a six-part series on HBO Go this September. Select episodes from the upcoming series will also premiere at the 78th Venice International Film Festival as a film sequel, On The Job: The Missing 8, starring John Arcilla, Dennis Trillo, and Dante Rivero. The festival will run between September 1 to 11 2021 and it is the Philippines’ only entry to the main competition, competing under the full-length feature films category.

Inspired by true events, the original On The Job is a neo-thriller depicting a chase between two hitmen prisoners, temporarily freed to carry out political executions. The series will depict the world of “fake news” and its political implications in an age of manufactured information.

On The Job is written by Matti and Michiko Yamamota, executive produced by Matti, Ronald Monteverde, Joe Caliro, and Quark Henares, and jointly produced by Reality Entertainment and Globe Studios.
