Without a doubt, the Philippine fashion industry boasts of talent, stunning silhouettes, and unique fabrics that give life and flair to the industry. However, there hasn’t been many outlets that showcased them on mainstream media.

But the latest series from ABS-CBN wants to change that. The first teleserye to deliberately highlight Philippine fashion, The Broken Marriage Vow aims to present a different way of wearing Filipino roots and culture—loud and proud—through beautiful pieces from local designers. The series plans to show pieces that are entirely local.

“Most of the local designers will be there showcasing their original work. It’s the thing that excites all of us,” Connie Macatuno, the series’ director and costume design lead, shared.

Seeing barong, pinya, and different weaves will definitely be a breath of fresh air for Filipino viewers, and this comes at an opportune time as more and more Filipino designers are on the rise and with Philippine fashion gaining traction in the global stage.

Aside from the fashion, the series also comes with a plot that’s equally intriguing. The Broken Marriage Vow is the Philippine remake of psychological thriller Doctor Foster. The South Korean adaptation, The World of Married, was also a hit in the Philippines.

It tells the story of Dr. Jill Ilustre (Jodi Sta. Maria) an esteemed doctor whose marriage with her husband (Zanjoe Marudo) is on the verge of falling apart amidst suspicions of her husband’s infidelity. Sue Ramirez, Jane Oineza, Susan Africa, Ronnie Lazaro, Empress Schuck, Bianca Manalo, Rachel Alejandro, Angeli Agbayani, Joem Bascon, and Art Acuna also star in the show.

The premiere date of The Broken Marriage Vow will be announced soon.
