CITEM, GDAP team up to boost PH game development industry

The Philippine game development industry continues to expand as the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) and Game Developer Association of the Philippines (GDAP) are set to organize the third physical Philippine GameDev Expo (PGDX) on July 25-27, 2025.

The PGDX serves as the first and biggest game developer exposition in the country. Its upcoming edition aims to once again empower the local gaming industry and showcase talents from the Filipino gaming community to local and international gaming industry players.

The Philippines' digital media market revenue particularly in the video game segment, has seen a steady growth for nine consecutive years, according to Statista. It is projected to reach a new peak in 2027 with 2.6 billion U.S. dollars.

On April 3, 2025, CITEM and GDAP signed the memorandum of agreement at the CITEM office. The meeting was attended by CITEM Executive Director Leah Pulido Ocampo, Creative Services Division Officer-in-Charge Katrina Ledesma-Muan, Project Officers Julian Torralba, Vea Santos, and Sophie Gomez. Representing GDAP were President James Ronald Lo, Board Member Walter Manalo, and CBZN Corporation Chief Partnership Officer and PGDX Co-Organizer Joebert Yu.

As the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)'s export promotion arm, the agency is set to support and co-organize the expo through event promotion, buyer servicing and campaign, and covering other venue requirements. The agency will also assist in facilitating business matching activities during the three-day event.

For GDAP, government support and promotion to key markets uplift small studios to the global gaming industry landscape. Lo said that the intervention of Philippine government agencies is key to opening doors of opportunities for game developers in the country.

With the upward projection of the gaming industry, it is a monumental stride for CITEM to become a co-organizer and official event partner of PGDX 2025 —an event that honors and promotes game developers and studios in the country.

PGDX is slated at the SMX Convention Center Manila on July 25-27, 2025. The event is organized by GDAP and CBZN Perspective.
