The Philippine Creative Industries Month (PCIM) has officially begun, and it offers a series of exciting events that you can participate in to celebrate Filipino creativity.
Mandated by Republic Act (RA) No. 11904, or the Philippine Creative Industries Development Act (PCIDA), September has been designated as Philippine Creative Industries Month. Following the two productive Creative Industries Summits in December 2022 and March 2023, the first-ever celebration of Philippine Creative Industries Month this year aims to amplify the promotion of the creative sectors in the country and recognize the successes of Filipino creative talents.

Sign up for pottery workshop
Organized by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), the Philippine Creative Industries Month Celebration features a lineup of workshops that cover all nine creative domains: Audiovisual Media, Digital Interactive Media, Creative Services, Design, Publishing and Printed Media, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Traditional Cultural Expressions, and Cultural Sites.
From shoemaking to songwriting, you will surely find a workshop here that is up your alley. If you’ve been wanting to try pottery for a long time, now is the time to tick it off your bucket list as they also have it in the program. The event will take place on September 17 at Rizal Park.

Laugh it off with a Filipino comedy film
To celebrate the 3rd Philippine Film Industry Month (PFIM) this September, the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) Cinematheque Centres will screen Filipino comedy films for free from September 6 to 28.
Under Sine Halakhak, the FDCP curated 17 beloved films that shaped Philippine cinema and enriched local popular culture, such as blockbusters Ang Tanging Ina and Praybeyt Benjamin, and indie gems Ang Babae sa Septic Tank and Ang Pangarap Kong Holdap. The showcase also features Filipino classic films starring Rodolfo “Dolphy” Quizon and Tito, Vic, and Joey.

Described as a dynamic platform fostering cultural exchange, creative entrepreneurship, and community engagement, FiestaKucha aims to celebrate diverse talent across the country's regions.
FiestaKucha - Cebu boasts a diverse range of exciting and unique events that cater to different interests, including a game jam, a writers' conference, and a 48-hour film marathon. The festival is happening from September 8 to 30 in various locations.

If you like to attend zine events and small press expos, then the Cebu Art Book Fair is the place to go. Cebu Art Book Fair is a celebration of art-related publications, with a focus on self-published books, magazines, zines, comic books, poetry, and other printed materials. It aims to showcase self-published works by local creative talents, from artists, illustrators, and designers to writers and poets.

Attend PCIM’s closing ceremony
Wrap up September by attending the grand closing ceremonies of Philippine Creative Industry Month. The culminating event will celebrate the vibrant and innovative spirit of the country's creative sectors.
